Is Pancasila Education still relevant to be applied today?” Historically, the practice of teaching Pancasila in the past has only become mere political jargon which is not implemented in government policies. Pancasila education is also vulnerable to being used as a political product by each regime in power according to its interpretation and interests. In the end, Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System was issued which did not specifically include the nomenclature of Pancasila Education, but Pancasila Education was integrated into Civics subjects
Pancasila education should still be used as a study and a means of preparing the younger generation to become good citizens. This does not mean reviving the P4 Upgrading practice as it was during the New Order era. The practice of upgrading P4 which is closely related to Pancasila Education during the New Order era is a political product that has been used to instill Pancasila values. It requires the role and cooperation of families, schools, and communities in teaching and cultivating Pancasila values.
